Outline for the Second Term Paper

According to the principles of action reactions  for every action we has a reaction. By having a reaction to every action it gives us, the audience a sense of realism. Weather we are shooting guns or fighting against enemies every action that takes place should have a reaction that goes along with it.

Many gun based games today have very realistic environments and very realistic simulations. One of the more well known gun based  game is Call of Duty. The game puts the player through military scenarios and challenges to save the world. One of the weak aspect of the game is when it comes to shooting a really heavy based gun. When shooting a small rifle or hand gun there are small recoils take place in the animation on the screen, but one unrealistic reaction that is missing is with the bigger guns. For example the heavy machine guns, in the game when holding and firing the gun there is small circular movement, which shows small realistic elements, but lacks the big recoils. In reality when someone holds that size gun to shoot the reaction or the recoil would be much more making the gun much more unstable than it is shown in the game.

When looking at a fight scene one of the things that makes the fight scene real is the reaction of the person that get's punch. Not only does the person punching have to get the weight and the motion correct but also the receiving person also has to react to the punch in the right way in order to make the viewing experience more realistic. In the fighting scenes that take place in Dragon Ball Z the characters usually don't move very much to achieve in what looks like a monstrous blow. For example when Goku the main character fight's Cell the enemy, when they deliver punches back and forth the motions are somewhat strong, but the reaction of the person getting punched is super exaggerated. The character that get's punch would fly very far, breaking rock walls, and buildings. Though it is an animated series the action and reaction that is found throughout the series  is very unrealistic.

In the case of the movie John Carter, the character travels through another world and lands on a world which seems to resemble mars. The gravity here is low so the main character John is able to leap very far. The movie has a good sense of gravity and weight when it comes to the characters moving and reacting to things. One of the scenes  that threw the movie out is when John is in battle with the two giant apes. He is chained to a giant rock in which e cannot remove. Eventually with the help of the giant apes he is fighting with, he is able to break off a small bolder that he is chained to. The motion in which he moves and swings the rocks is unrealistic because if the bolder was that size he would need to have more reaction to the swinging motion of it to show the weight and also the motion of swing. In this scene it seems as though the bolder he was swing was not as heavy and it seemed more like a rock made of paper.
In order to make someone or something more real, the amount work we put into an action should come out with the same reaction that we would like to see. Whether we are watching a movie or playing a game without the right action and reaction it throws out the realistic aspect and replaces it non realistic imaginary world.
